Bar Della Valle sits tucked slightly uphill from Amalfi’s bustling main square, offering a relaxed retreat from the crowds that gather near the harbor. Functioning as both a café and bar, it strikes a balance between lively daytime breaks and casual evening drinks. Locals and visitors alike seem drawn to its friendly, approachable atmosphere where you can drop in for a quick coffee or linger over a light meal and a glass of wine.

The café side lives up to the classic Italian coffee culture, with cappuccinos and macchiatos that many praise as some of the best in town. Morning visits here often come with flaky pastries or a soft lemon cake that hints at Amalfi’s signature citrus flavors — perfect for a low-key start to the day. The outdoor seating catches the warm sunlight, making it a nice spot to watch the slow flow of Amalfi life while enjoying a well-crafted espresso.

As the day moves on, the menu broadens to include simple, fresh dishes like bruschetta, panini, and pizzas, all served promptly in generous portions. The food leans on local ingredients and traditional recipes, with touches like lemon-infused risotto or a cooling Lemon Spritz reflecting the Amalfi Coast’s vibrant produce and summer spirit. Sharing a carafe of white wine with friends here fits naturally into the atmosphere — friendly and unpretentious, with staff who seem genuinely happy to chat and recommend dishes.

Bar Della Valle attracts a diverse crowd: morning coffee seekers, small groups looking for a casual lunch away from the busiest tourist spots, and early evening socializers. While it gets busy during peak hours, the indoor seating with air conditioning provides a nice break on warm days. Though the facilities are functional rather than fancy, the focus remains firmly on fast, fresh food and a welcoming vibe.

Visiting mid-morning or late afternoon lets you avoid the busiest rush while still soaking in the local rhythms. Whether you’re stopping by for a creamy croissant and cappuccino or unwinding with a pizza and a lemon spritz after exploring Amalfi’s steeper streets, Bar Della Valle delivers the kind of straightforward service and flavor that make it a natural part of the neighborhood’s daily flow.

Easily the best cafe, came here for 3 days in a row. The staff is all so so friendly and a great time. Carlo needs to be the mayor of Amalfi!!! Not only is the staff amazing, the croissants and food here are unbelievable - highly recommend the cream croissant (and lemon cake, but it was a special of the day). The cappuccinos here, also one of the best ever. Can’t wait to visit this place again!!!

Walk up the main street for this hidden gem. Great prices and amazing food. Beautiful island and I'm glad I walked up away from the tourist box near the pier. We had bruschetta, machiatto, Americano, Napoleon pizza and prosciutto panini. All delicious

OMG!! Food is amazing! Comes out quick and fresh. Staff are so friendly and helpful. We had a group of 5. We got coffee, lemonsoda, Omelets, toasts and pastries. Everything was delicious. The proportions are just right as well.

This place was a decent spot to stop for lunch. I tried the risotto with lemon - they didn't skimp out on the lemon! Food was tasty, staff was friendly, place was busy. Bathrooms weren't the nicest, but it's a busy place.

Group of 5, ordered panini and a carafe of white wine, absolutely wonderful. Food was so fresh and delicious, wine was lovely and a decent price. Absolutely worth the little walk up the hill from the main square. A great spot for refreshments. Didn't try the Desserts but they look amazing (full from the panini!). Air conditioned inside and the service was great, very friendly and efficient. Lovely atmosphere Edit: we tried the Desserts 10 minutes after we wrote this review. Bets Tiramisu on the Amalfi coast.

Nice cute cafe in Amalfi, right at the centre of tourist hubs. Had lunch from here. It was crowded, yet service was pretty fast. Lovely pizza, sandwiches, fries. Felt a little congested though with the seating inside.

This is where you go for a cafe and breakfast in Amafi town. The church square is beautiful, but walk down to the family business and have the true experience. Highly recommend the ginseng cafe, the best I've ever had.
